Creative Project Plan

Here is the plan for our Creative Project! This will give you an idea of what we are hoping to achieve in the next few weeks.

Project Brief:
For our creative project we have chosen to organise a recording competition at Clydeview Academy for pupils to compete in and the winner will get the opportunity to record and release a single with Clydebuilt Records within James Watt College. We have chosen to do an event like this because we are very familiar with Clydeview Academy and we know that there are very talented musicians in this school who would appreciate this competition.

Marketing Needs and Dynamics:
Target market: The main target audience and the people who would be most interested in this competition would be the pupils – this competition is for the pupils and out of this, one artist or band will be chosen as the winner of this exciting competition.
Market needs: The reasons why pupils would be interested in this competition could be because: they enjoy the experience of performing to others, want to become more confident performing to an audience, interested in studying music once they are finished school and are eager to become a musician when they are older.
Market dynamics: We know from our experience within the school that without this project the pupils would not have an opportunity to better themselves in this field. Without our creative project, we feel that this chance of getting to release a music record is very rare for young people to get involved in. Competing in this competition may help persuade pupils who are interested in music to just go for it and see what happens, even if they are only interested in gaining confidence to perform to an audience.

Sources of Information:

· The main person who we will be contacting on a regular basis about the venue and musicians will be Valerie Forsyth (Head of Music at Clydeview Academy).
· When the winner has been chosen, we will be in contact with David O’Hagan for help about releasing the single with Clydebuilt Records.
· Sound production students and/or staff to help with the recording of the single.

Legalities:
· Disclosure Scotland – We are aware that when working with children, a Disclosure Scotland form has to be filled out in order to make aware that there are no safety issues with us working with them (eg. criminal convictions etc).
· Photograph permission – Nowadays it is essential for schools and outside parties to get the permission from a child’s parents as to whether they allow their child to be photographed.

Initial Project Concepts and Outputs:

Our product idea in a nutshell is this – We plan to hold a competition in Clydeview Academy, inviting pupils from all year groups in the school to perform as a band or simply sing solo in front of an audience and be judged. The winner of the competition will receive the opportunity to record a song with Clydebuilt Records and then have their song published on iTunes.

Concept for Development:
For the development of our project, there is a chance that we would be able to do a competition similar to the one we are doing in Clydeview, but in different or all the High Schools within the area. There is also a chance that we could hold a competition in a local hall where different acts in all of the local High Schools can compete against each other in order to win and having their song put out onto the college Record Label – Clydebuilt Records.
